There is a great demand for more educational professionals to meet children's mental health and academic needs. These valuable individuals provide consultation services to parents and school staff, crisis management services to schools and collaborate with institution-linked health services. Brandman's unique school psychologist program prepares students to serve as a effective psychologists in public K-12 institutions.

Our instructors, many of whom are professionals currently practicing in the field, prepare students to develop the skills to collaborate and become influential leaders. The school psychologist courses that are embedded in the curriculum also meet the requirements for a California State Pupil Personnel Services (PPSC) credential, authorizing graduates to become advocates for children and youth and be able to collect and evaluate relevant data for educational planning.

The MA in School Psychologist and PPSC and Education Psychologist programs course work will prepare students to help young people with varied abilities, cultural backgrounds and economic standing to succeed academically, emotionally and socially. Brandman's school psychology courses cover legal mandates and regulations as they relate to special education, counseling interventions, assessment strategies, behavioral plans using NASP guidelines and reporting communication techniques.
