This program is designed to allow to students to provide specialized instruction to English learners in a California classroom. The CTEL Authorization program addresses the belief that teach English learners requires an understanding of multiple concepts to provide a successful educational environment. These topics include first and second language theories, the dynamics of culture and learning, appropriate bilingual methodology, and the importance of using appropriate content area instruction through Specially-Designed Academic Instruction in English (SDAIE).
Obtaining a second credential broadens a teacher's qualifications and provides greater opportunity for career advancement. This authorization makes it possible to achieve this without completing another credentialing program. Comprised of just two additional classes, it is designed for students that already hold a Single Subject Credential and want to teach in both multiple and single subject environments. Program curriculum provides the foundations of teaching literacy and language in K-8 classrooms. The student then selects one course from specialized areas of interest including mathematics, science, or history, social science and visual/performing arts.

Comprised of just one additional class, it is designed for students that already hold a Multiple Subject Credential that want to teach in both single and multiple environments at the junior high or high school level.
This program provides eligible candidates with a California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTC) designated authorization to serve the specific needs of learners with autism. The Authorization allows the holder to conduct assessments, provide instruction and special education related services to individuals with a primary disability of autism. The courses in the program may also be valuable for those without a special education teaching credential (e.g., instructional aide, multiple subjects, single subjects) to enhance the learning experience for students with autism.
This program allows students to gain the knowledge and skills necessary to conduct assessments, provide instruction, and other support services to children ages birth to pre-K with disabilities and their families. The spectrum of conditions that an Early Childhood Education added authorization graduate may encounter include children with developmental delays, emotional disturbance, traumatic brain injury, multiple disabilities, and physical disabilities. Each candidate learns to demonstrate the skills required to ensure that the intervention, curriculum, assessment, and instructional environment are appropriate to the child's chronological age, developmental level, and disability specific needs.
